The Land Between the Water

The Land Between the Water is a photography-based art project about finding connection with place and the self through nature. The 35mm film was developed using locally gathered plants instead of chemical developer.

The analogue photographs were captured during slow walks and explorations near my canal boat home on an approximately 300x30 metre stretch of land between the River Lee Navigation and Tumbling Bay Lake in Hertfordshire, UK, in the summer and autumn of 2023. The Land Between the Water was conceived as an immersive activity for my own wellbeing, where the acts of walking, observing, foraging and making are as much part of the artwork as the final object. There is light and darkness, decay and growth.
